Masoor Dal vada

For the 2nd week of BM #17, my theme is Cooking deep fried vada fritters. Today's recipe is Masoor dal Vada. Masoor dal looks red in color but is very tasty when to make dal or vada. I liked making vada than the regular dal. Here is the recipe..........

We need:

Masoor dal (red dal) 2cups
Onion 1 medium
Green chillies 4
Ginger root 1 inch
Cilantro 1/2 cup
Curry leaves 6
Rice flour 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Bicarbonate soda 1/4 sp
Oil for deep frying

Method:

Soak masoor dal for atleast 6hrs.
Grind 3/4 of this dal to fine paste. Add rest of the dal , rice flour to the paste.
Chop onion, green chillies, curry leaves and cilantro and add to the dal.
Add salt and bicarbonate soda.
The consistency should be as any other vada batter but should not too smooth.
Heat oil in pan and make small vadas and fry till golden brown.
Serve hot with any sauce or chutney.
I love to have these vadas with evening tea.
Makes upto 30 vadas.
